If chant was in regular use before about 1970 and was taught in the schools, are these books that were used gathering dust in parish music libraries? I have personally not found a scrap of such music in my digging around just to see what is in the back of cabinets or shelves.<br /><br />Surely when the changes came the musicians would at least keep some copies of the good stuff on the top shelf, right? I cannot imagine someone issued an edict to burn it or we would have heard about it. So where the heck is it?? We ought to have a decent idea of what was done by digging around a little. It wasn't that long ago.<br /><br />For example, we have stacks of kitschy stuff from the late 60s and 70s in the files even though no one would use that stuff anymore and it's not nearly as valuable.ReasonandRevelationnoreply@blogger.com
